Dubai’s Hiring Market Right Now: What Companies and Candidates Should Know

Over the past few days we’ve had a lot of messages from candidates asking the same thing:

“Has hiring in Dubai paused?”

It’s a fair question. When headlines get louder or uncertainty increases across a region, the assumption is usually that companies will freeze hiring and wait things out.

From what we’re seeing on the ground in the Dubai tech market, that isn’t really what’s happening.

Most hiring processes are continuing

Across the roles we’re currently working on, around 90% of hiring processes are still moving forward.

Interviews are still taking place, technical stages are still happening and in some cases offers are still being discussed. Most companies are continuing with the plans they already had in place.

That doesn’t mean businesses aren’t paying attention to what’s happening around them. They are. But hiring teams also recognise that stopping a process halfway through often creates more disruption than simply continuing with it.

Some companies are adjusting how they hire

Where we are seeing some flexibility is around how people start roles, particularly for candidates relocating to Dubai.

A few companies are open to:

  • Slightly delayed start dates

  • Allowing someone to begin remotely before relocating

  • Adjusting relocation timelines if needed

It’s a practical way of keeping hiring moving while also giving candidates a bit more breathing room.

Candidates already in the UAE are still interviewing

For candidates who are already based in the UAE, most processes are continuing as normal.

Interviews are still being scheduled and hiring teams are still progressing through the usual stages. In many cases, companies want to maintain momentum so that when a hire is made they can get someone started quickly.

The Dubai tech market tends to keep moving

One of the characteristics of the Dubai market, particularly in startups and tech companies, is that things move quickly. Teams often have very clear hiring needs and stopping recruitment entirely can slow down product development, engineering output or growth plans.

Because of that, many companies prefer to adjust around the situation rather than pause completely.

What this means for candidates

If you’re currently interviewing for a role in Dubai, there’s generally no need to step back unless a company specifically tells you to.

Most hiring teams are continuing their processes and still looking to move candidates through interviews as planned. If anything changes, companies will usually communicate that quickly.

Tips for companies keeping hiring processes moving

For companies that are currently hiring, a few small adjustments can help keep processes moving smoothly.

Keep communication clear and consistent Candidates are naturally paying closer attention to what’s happening in the region. Keeping them updated after interviews and being transparent about timelines helps avoid uncertainty creeping into the process.

Move quickly where possible Strong candidates are often involved in multiple processes. If a team knows someone is the right fit, unnecessary delays between interview stages can lead to losing momentum.

Be flexible on start dates For candidates relocating to Dubai, a little flexibility around relocation timelines can make a big difference. In some cases, companies are allowing people to start remotely for a short period before moving.

Consider consolidating interview stages Where possible, combining stages or scheduling interviews closer together helps keep the process efficient for both sides.

Reassure candidates about the role and company plans Candidates relocating or changing jobs will naturally have more questions right now. Being open about company stability, growth plans and hiring strategy can help build confidence.
