These figures come from the Nameless Ventures 2026 Salary Survey, based on 2,000+ UAE tech professionals between January 2025 and January 2026. They are basic monthly salary, before bonuses, stock options and benefits.
Ask what a software engineer earns in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE, and you’ll usually get an answer too vague to use. These numbers are what people are actually being paid, not what job ads say. In the survey, software engineering covers frontend, full stack, backend, DevOps, QA and mobile engineers.

Two things stand out. The mid-level band is wide: the top of it is nearly double the bottom, so “what does a mid-level engineer cost?” has no single answer. And the senior and lead bands sit close together. The median moves by under AED 2,600 a month between the two, so the step up in title comes with a small step up in pay.

What’s included in a software engineer’s salary in the UAE?
The figures above are basic monthly salary in AED. They don’t include bonuses, stock options, or the wider benefits that are common in UAE packages: housing allowance, healthcare, schooling support and relocation packages.
Those benefits vary from company to company. Some employers offer all of them, some offer a few, and some offer none. So two engineers on the same salary can be on very different packages. Read the table as the salary figure only, then look at benefits separately.
The UAE doesn’t charge personal income tax, so there’s no tax to take off these numbers.
If you’re hiring
The median is the middle of the market, not a ceiling. If you can’t move on salary, be upfront about what else is in the package, and know that’s the trade you’re asking a candidate to make.
